Eli­gi­ble pre­sen­ters in the com­pet­i­tive track can receive fund­ing awards, while all pre­sen­ters receive an offi­cial Cer­tifi­cate of Pre­sen­ta­tion to high­light on CVs and graduate/professional appli­ca­tions.

The Insti­tute for Intel­li­gent Sys­tems Stu­dent Orga­ni­za­tion (IISSO) is proud to host the IIS × IISSO Light­ning Talks 2025, an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary research show­case high­light­ing stu­dent research, inno­va­tion, and schol­ar­ly impact across the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mem­phis. This event brings togeth­er under­grad­u­ate and grad­u­ate stu­dents to present their ideas in a fast-paced, engag­ing for­mat that fos­ters col­lab­o­ra­tion, feed­back, and aca­d­e­m­ic com­mu­ni­ty-build­ing.

Whether you are explor­ing cut­ting-edge AI meth­ods, design­ing human-cen­tered tech­nolo­gies, con­duct­ing edu­ca­tion­al research, or advanc­ing the social sci­ences, the Light­ning Talks pro­vide an acces­si­ble plat­form to share your work with peers, fac­ul­ty, vis­it­ing schol­ars, and indus­try guests.

All Uni­ver­si­ty of Mem­phis stu­dents are invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate.

Presentation Tracks Oral + Poster (Competitive Track)

This track is designed for stu­dents seek­ing a more struc­tured and com­pet­i­tive pre­sen­ta­tion for­mat.
Par­tic­i­pants will:

  • Present a 3‑minute light­ning talk (max­i­mum 2 slides)
  • Share a research poster dur­ing the ses­sion
  • Be con­sid­ered for research fund­ing awards

Approx­i­mate­ly 10 pre­sen­ters will be select­ed for this track.
Only stu­dents in the Oral + Poster track are eli­gi­ble for awards.

Poster-Only (Open Track)

This track is ide­al for stu­dents inter­est­ed in shar­ing work-in-progress, explorato­ry stud­ies, pilot projects, or research at any stage of devel­op­ment.

  • Open to all stu­dents
  • Non-com­pet­i­tive
  • Excel­lent for ear­ly feed­back and net­work­ing
